Video footage has revealed the shocking moment a murder suspect attempts to escape an interrogation room after allegedly massacring his entire family.

Adlai Mestre, 24, shot and killed his family - including his mother, father, 17-year-old sister and even their family dog about a month ago in their Tijeras, New Mexico home, authorities believe.

Deputies from Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office released stunning video showing Mestre's arrest and attempt at escaping the interrogation room after being left unattended just hours after the massacre.

He is also heard praying, saying 'Jesus Christ, Heavenly father please bring peace to the others,' before he kicks through the wall and appears to try to make a run for it.

Court documents reveal Mestre was talking about 'killing them' and 'hearing seismic waves' at the time of his arrest, with deputies finding him holding a loaded gun, as reported by KOB4.

He nonchalantly told cops he 'had to kill them' after asking if they found their bodies.

Mestre reportedly has a history of mental health issues.

His older sister, who was reportedly not in the home at the time of the killing, confirmed that her brother was 'hearing voices' and not taking his medication.
