A trailer for a new two-hour documentary has unearthed the chilling phone call made by 'Pom-Pom Mom' Wanda Holloway to a hitman she sought to kill the mother of her daughter's cheerleading rival.

In 1991, after her own daughter Shanna Widner failed to make the cheerleading squad, a distraught Holloway planned to have neighbor Verna Heath killed after her daughter Amber made the team.

Prosecutors at the time had argued that Holloway, now 70, had hoped that Amber would have been so upset by her mom's death that she would have quit the squad – meaning a place for Shanna would have opened up.

In the first look trailer for Investigation Discovery's upcoming documentary The Texas Cheerleader Murder Plot, exclusively shared with DailyMail.com, Holloway is heard speaking on the phone with a hitman, in which they discuss the fee for killing both mother and daughter.

During their conversation, the hitman confirms it would cost $7,500 for them to be killed.

Breaking down the fee, he explains: '$5,000 for the girl, $2,500 for the mother.'

'The mother, she ain't worth crap is she?' Holloway is heard laughing.

Later in the trailer, the hitman reveals he has enlisted someone to carry out the killings.

Holloway was initially convicted of solicitation of capital murder in her 1991 trial

'I've gotten in touch with someone for you,' he says.

'But I need to know exactly what you want.'

On January 14, 1991, Holloway gave former brother-in-law Terry Harper $2,000 worth of jewelry so he could organize a hitman to kill Verna, oblivious that he was recording their meetings to hand her in to the police.

The next day, Shanna, who was oblivious to her mom's plot, was practicing in the garage, when two police officers came to the door.

Holloway was initially convicted of solicitation of capital murder in her 1991 trial and sentenced to 15 years behind bars.

However, the conviction was overturned when it was discovered one of the jurors was on probation for a drug-related felony and should have never been allowed to serve on the jury.

In her second trial, Holloway pleaded 'no contest.'

She was released on March 1, 1997, after serving just six months of her sentence, and was ordered to serve the remaining 9.5 years on probation, and to complete 1,000 hours of community service.

The Texas Cheerleader Murder Plot will hear Holloway's daughter Shanna speak out for the first time to reveal the secret behind what happened.

'I think she learned to get what she wanted at whatever cost,' Shanna says in the trailer.

She will also reveal how she coped with her mother's actions, and who was secretly pulling the strings behind the curtain to set Holloway up.

Meanwhile, archive interview footage hears Holloway reveal the lengths she would go to in order to provide for her daughter.

'I've always played a very active role in my children's lives,' Holloway says.

'I mean that's what parents are for.'

'If wanting something good for your kid is greedy, then I guess they can label me as being greedy,' she adds.

The Texas Cheerleader Murder Plot, set for release at 9/8c on ID on December 18, will no doubt leave viewers feeling shocked by the revelations.

'There were parts of it that would make your skin crawl,' one contributor notes of Holloway's crimes.

'She had no qualms about what she had done,' another says.
