The Hong Kong creative studio that brought giant yellow ducks to Victoria Harbour has put its whimsical stamp on the headquarters of Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet, seating a giant inflatable cartoon character designed by the American artist Kaws on the building’s rooftop.

AllRightsReserved founder Lam Shu-kam told the Post the studio drew upon insights gained from its previous efforts and mobilised suppliers in Asia to make the technically demanding project in Switzerland possible.

The 11-metre (36-feet) high iteration of Kaw’s famous Companion character has been hit with rain, wind and even snow following its unveiling in Vallee de Joux in Le Brassus last week.

“We have gone through a lot of tests and trials and have worked closely with a group of suppliers in Asia from past events varying from sea, land to air,” Lam said.

The stop in Switzerland is the project’s 12th destination on its world tour “Kaws: Holiday” that began in 2018 and coincides with the launch of a Kaws-themed Audemars Piguet watch.

Kaws, whose real name is Brian Donnelly, has said he hoped that Companion, a pathos-tinged cross between Mickey Mouse and a clown, would encourage people to slow down and take a break during their hectic lives.
