The moment an Ohio man was narrowly pulled from his burning truck just seconds before it exploded was caught on heart-stopping body-cam video footage.
The man, who later identified himself as Randy, called police in a panic to report that he was experiencing brake problems while he was driving on the highway outside of Columbus early Wednesday morning.
Just seconds later, he collided with a concrete pillar and his car was engulfed in flames - leaving him injured and trapped inside the inferno.
‘It’s getting really hot in here, I can’t get out, my ankle’s broke,’ he desperately told the dispatcher on the call. ‘I can’t get out of my truck, get me out of here.’
Terrifying body-cam footage captured the moment officers arrived at the scene and were met with his heavily damaged silver pick up truck that had flames shooting out from every direction.
Gloria West, a first-year officer with the Columbus Police Department, sprung to action - running towards the dangerous inferno, burning herself in the process and screaming for his hand as other officers assisted her in yanking the man from his smoking truck and towards safety.
Moments later, the body-cam footage captured the sound of loud pops coming from the burning vehicle behind them as they tended to Randy on the grass - ultimately exploding right before their eyes.
‘He was smoking, Brian Steel, the president of the Columbus police union, told ABC News. ‘This man was on fire. He would have 100 percent not have lived if they did not take the action they took.’
