The family of Henry Nowak's killer, Vickrum Digwa, has issued an apology to the 18-year-old's parents and Sikh community.

It details how the family are "deeply sorry" and would "give anything to turn back time", but explain they "love Vickrum".

They also apologise to the Sikh community for their son's actions.

The statement comes as the killer's mother, Kiran Kaur, is awaiting sentencing today for assisting an offender.

She was found guilty of taking the ceremonial Sikh knife used to kill Mr Nowak back to their family home nearby in Southampton.

The 53-year-old will be sentenced on July 17.

In the statement, issued by the Sikh Press Association, the family apologised to the Nowaks: "The loss of a young life is a grief that no family should ever have to carry.

"We are deeply sorry for the pain and suffering the Nowak family has had to endure."

They continue to state their love for this son, saying it does "not stand in opposition" to the pain they feel for the 18-year-old's grieving family.

"We love Vickrum. We will continue to love him. That love does not stand in opposition to the sorrow we feel for the Nowak family. Both are real, and both will remain with us for the rest of our lives," they said.
