Gaetz says he will not return to Congress

Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said Friday he will not return to Congress after resigning his House seat last week, despite having withdrawn from consideration to be President-elect Trump’s attorney general — but added he is “not going anywhere.”

“I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress,” Gaetz told conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, later adding it is a “pretty poetic time” to allow Florida’s 1st District to have new representation.

There were questions about whether Gaetz may try to return to Capitol Hill for the 119th Congress — and whether he would want to — given the careful wording used in his letter announcing his resignation from the 118th Congress last week.

But he put an end to that speculation less than a day after it began.

More likely a job in the Trump administration that doesn’t require confirmation.

Well, ABC is floating the idea of a MAGA to help the ratings for the heifers on the view......it would certainly be incendiary that’s for sure. 😂

There are a ton of “advisor” jobs in the Executive Branch that do not require confirmation.

Many of these “advisors” have more real power than cabinet officers—if they know their way around DC.

The current administration is an excellent example of this—to this day we are debating about who is really in charge.

There is a good chance that several key folks have never faced Senate confirmation for anything.

Agreed, whether Gaetz returned to the House or was named as a replacement for Rubio in the Senate. He would have been under constant attacks from the MSM, the DEMs, and the RINOs.

We all know the Democrats will vote unanimously for their Presidents appointments. Republicans don’t, and that means results of Republican landslide elections mean nothing. These big government RINOs (Collins, Murkowski, McConnell, Cornyn, and yes, Thune) are the real impediments to true reform in America. They guarantee any Republican majority in the Senate is actually a minority. It’s long past time to primary these dipsticks.

Apart from ambassador, Norm Eisen.
Matthew Coleangelo
Jack Smith for that matter.

Let Gaetz enemies do a victory lap.

Methinks they are not rid of him.

Gaetz is fighter and those who fought against him did not follow Marquis of Queensberry rules.

Gaetz will get down and dirty with those who did the same to him.

I hope he’s not another Gowdy/Chavezz. Both went to Fox, Chavezz didn’t finish his term. These special elections cost money that can be better spent elsewhere.

These 2 mentioned here were all talk.
