The “Material Girl” singer slammed Hollywood producers for trying to scale down her biopic, telling fans she refuses to make herself “smaller.”
“After struggling for days in LA , listening to producers and agents Tell me why I couldn’t make
my film —I(been working on it for 4 years!!!) downsize-down scale -think smaller-they say,” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post Monday.
“I realized that everything in my life is going to be challenged. No easy rides for me.”
The 66-year-old pop sensation then went on to say that due to unusual life, she would have to go about making her dream project in an unusual way.
“I guess I should be grateful.. It forces me to think outside the box,” Madonna continued. “I did not have a normal life. I cannot make this in the normal way.”
Madonna expressed her gratitude for her group of friends who have provided “just the fuel I needed to keep going!”
The mother of six also revealed her game plan to get the green light on her project.
“We all agreed that we need to be even more fearless!!! Art =Survival,” Madonna added. “We cannot shrink and make ourselves smaller.”
“If you want something badly enough in life— the whole universe will conspire to hel [sic] you get it.”
The Grammy winner concluded her post by asking her fans to weigh on on her decision on what route she should take with the biopic.
“Should I make the story of my life into a series or a feature Film. 🤷🏼♀️,” she wrote. “Think before you answer !!”
Many of the fans didn’t hesitate to chime in with responses, including actress and friend Debi Mazar.
“I think a film or series would be amazing ..but what’s [sic] about the book 1st? Then no one can get it wrong ?” the “Younger” star wrote.
“Thinking about myself as I’ve been offered doc series and I still haven’t told my own story ! For me ..book 1st. Facts.”
A separate admirer wrote, “A series might allow for more subtlety and nuance. And also get more eyeballs.”
Despite a plethora of support for a series, a third couldn’t help but request a feature film from Madonna.
“Feature film Madonna all the way! Your love belongs on to the big screen!!! I cannot wait ♥️♥️♥️♥️,” they gushed.
Madonna was first slated to direct her biopic in September 2020, with actress Julia Garner set to play Madge herself. The project was later halted when Madonna announced her “Celebration” tour.
