MPs are holding a passionate debate in Parliament on a bill to legalise assisted dying in England and Wales - Watch live.

Kim Leadbeater, the MP behind the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, opens the debate with a call for "choice, autonomy and dignity" in death

Meanwhile campaigners have gathered in Westminster to show their support for and opposition to the bill

Laws throughout the UK currently prevent people from asking for medical help to die and there are several requirements for a patient to be eligible under the proposals
