At least five people were stabbed by an ‘emotionally disturbed’ person at New York City’s Penn Station on Sunday.

The unidentified suspect began stabbing victims near the Amtrak terminals at the busy transit hub just after 7pm, ABC 7 reports.

One person was said to have suffered serious injuries, while two others suffered moderate injuries and the other two suffered minor injuries. All were then transported to a local hospital.

The suspect, who was considered emotionally disturbed, was then arrested by Amtrak police, who tackled him to the ground, according to AMNY.

The stabbing comes less than 24 hours before the New York Knicks face off against the San Antonio Spurs for the third game of the NBA finals at Madison Square Garden, located directly overhead from the transit hub.

President Donald Trump  and Mayor Zohran Mamdani are both set to attend the game.

Penn Station will also see thousands of passengers pass through its halls next week as they try to get to the World Cup.

Police are now asking the public to avoid the area and expect traffic delays as the investigation continues.
