Fans of Elon Musk are begging for him to fire Nancy Pelosi's niece from her cushy job as a climate advisor for the US government, after it was revealed she collects a salary of more than $181,000 a year.

Alexis Pelosi, 58, works as a senor climate advisor at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The agency hired her nearly three years ago, toward the beginning of President Joe Biden's term in office.

She is the wife of the former House Speaker's nephew, Laurence Pelosi, 53, a real estate attorney who operates out of Washington, DC

On Tuesday, Musk, who is poised to clean house while co-leading President-elect Donald Trump's newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was met with calls to pull the plug on her position, after he re-shared a post showing her purported salary.

'Nancy Pelosi's niece should not be paid $181,648.00 by the US Taxpayer to be the "Climate Advisor" at HUD,' the original post read.

'But maybe her advice is amazing,' Musk wrote on Tuesday, followed by three laughing-face emojis.

The post had been viewed more than 22million times as of Tuesday afternoon, while sparking a storm of scrutiny surrounding Alexis' job.

'Get her out!' one user wrote in reply.

'Can't wait for DOGE to clean house,' another added.

'She should be fired from all her jobs,' one user sniped.

'Make sure this one doesn't get severance,' another chimed in.

'Well I hope she saved some of that $181,648.00 because she's about to be UNEMPLOYED!!!' yet another added.

The website OpenPayrolls confirmed that salary amount for 2023, stating that the number includes base pay, bonuses, and other benefits, such as retirement contributions and pensions.

Data from the Office of Personnel Management shows Pelosi's base salary in the area of $143,546.

OpenPayrolls reported that Alexis took in $173,232 in 2022.

Alexis was appointed in January 2022 to serve under HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge, originally as a senior advisor in the office of community planning and development, according to her LinkedIn account.

She helped found Pelosi Ziblatt Law Group with her husband in 2011, in her native San Francisco.

She served as principal attorney for the real-estate firm for 10 years before pursuing a career in government.

She took the HUD role a year after Biden became president.

Prior to landing the job, she repeatedly stumped for the then-candidate on Facebook.

In photo shared to Facebook in 2020, she is seen smiling next to Biden during his campaign.

'I'm on Team Joe,' the former deputy city attorney for the city of Oakland wrote in July of that year.

In another post days later, she called on 'all lawyer friends' to sign up as a voter protection volunteer for the Biden campaign.

'By signing up you are volunteering to help to ensure our elections are safe, fair and fully-tabulated,' she wrote at the time.

'There are less than 100 days until voting begins (early voting, mail in ballots) and NOW is the time for all hands on deck.'

According to Alexis' LinkedIn account, her only other government job was back in 1995, when she had a two year-stint as an assistant to former Long Island Rep. Michael Forbes.

More than two years after leaving that job, she embarked a more than 20-year career as an attorney in the Bay Area.

During that time, Nancy Pelosi represented her San Francisco congressional district in Washington.

Alexis' husband, Laurence, is the son of Nancy Pelosi's brother-in-law, Ron Pelosi.

Ron, a 90-year-old businessman who was once married to California Gov. Gavin Newsom's late aunt, is the elder brother of Nancy's husband, Paul Pelosi, 84.

HUD administers federal housing and urban development grants, and is also responsible for overseeing federal housing laws.

The taxpayer-funded agency is responsible for national policy and programs related to US housing needs, often by renovating low-income households and putting them on the market with subsidized rents.

Alexis's law firm specialized in counseling clients and analyzing real estate development opportunities.

The Biden administration's bipartisan infrastructure funding bill passed in 2021 widened HUD's scope to work with multiple agencies, to allocate billions of dollars in funding for both climate and housing programs.

After assuming her new post in 2023, Alexis told Politico's E&E how she is proud to ensure 'HUD be a part of the solution' to climate change.

'I am honored to be in a position to advance this important work,' she said.

Alexis did not immediately return a DailyMail.com request for comment.
