Musk inflames X with profane movie quote in defense of H-1B visa

The internal rift inside the MAGA movement over the H-1B visa continues to play out on X with Elon Musk attacking a critic of the program on Friday using a profane quote from Tom Cruise's character in the movie "Tropic Thunder."
Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who have been tapped by President-elect Trump to lead his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), argued earlier this week that American culture has not prioritized education enough and therefore foreign workers are needed for tech companies like Musk’s SpaceX and Tesla.
Many tech companies have embraced the H-1B visa program, which allows U.S. companies to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations, but critics of the program say H-1B holders are often chosen over U.S. citizens for jobs. One of the reasons for this is that foreign workers are tied to their respective employers via the H-1B visa – as a company is required to sponsor the visa -- and therefore quitting the job could ultimately see foreign workers losing their visa and their ability to legally remain in the country.
Musk doubled down on his defense of the program, blasting a user on X who used a video of Musk discussing SpaceX processes to go after the billionaire’s stance on the visa program.
"The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B," Musk wrote on X.
He then went on to quote the 2008 action-comedy movie, which was a box office hit.
"Take a big step back and F--- YOURSELF in the face," Musk railed.

The line, although not verbatim, comes from a scene from the movie where Tom Cruise’s character Les Grossman, a balding, profane-laden and ill-tempered studio executive, roars down the phone at a group of kidnappers in a memorable scene.
Grossman then goes on to threaten the kidnappers, saying that he will go “scorched earth” and “massacre” them. The outburst leaves the kidnappers and Matthew McConaughey, who plays Rick “The Pecker” Peck, stunned into silence. The movie also stars Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black and Nick Nolte.
Musk also invokes Grossman’s combative stance with the X user, finishing off his late Friday post by writing: “I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.”

So smug.

Trump must be very disappointed by Elon's self-destruction. Oh well, he'll have to move on. There's too much work to do starting January 20th.

I’m going to need a lot more confirmation of this and other purported ‘facts’ in this whole H1-B issue.
Leftists would take great pleasure in spreading such agitprop.

Many companies fire US employees and replace them with H1-B workers from India. I’ve been ordered to do exactly that in the past. H1-B staffers are rarely hired because suitable Americans cannot be found, but instead because of the cheap labor from India. H1-B needs to be MASSIVELY reformed or shut down.

In my 45 year software career I’ve trained my H1b replacement twice before being laid off. I have a masters in CS from USC and many patents. They were kids from India with no degree and a ‘bootcamp’ on the particular software they’d be using. They were getting paid less than one third my salary. They wrote buggy code. When I mentioned this to management, they laughed and said ‘so what they are cheap.’ Elon uses over 2000 H1Bs. There have also been 51 deaths in Tesla self-driving mode. He’d have your kids flipping burgers so he can save on labor costs.

Ever notice we are worrying about a permit issue instead of millions of undocumented assholes crossing our southern border. Eyes on the prize folks. H1B workers Are not setting old ladies and men on fire. Focus folks.

Musk is correct. STEM classes have been replaced with DEI and CRT. A DEI class won’t teach anyone how to build a “little red wagon” much less an automobile, bridge, skyscraper, airplane, or spacecraft.

Not entirely unrelated, but this spring we will see what, if any, penalties Musk faces for breaking his agreement with the state of Nevada regards employment at the “Giga factory”.
He recently laid-off a couple thousand workers.
That is forbidden per the terms of the “Transferable tax credits” he was gifted (Bribed!) to set up shop here.
Now I have to wonder, how many of those laid-off workers have been replaced with H1B’s?

Y’all are doing what democrats could not. Continue to drive the wedge rather then allow a debate over immigration and the correct solutions for America.

From Powerline Blog:
“The issue is the H-1B visa program. Forbes summarizes the schism:
“That feud was spurred by Trump hiring venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan as a senior policy adviser for artificial intelligence, Politico notes, after Krishnan advocated for getting rid of country caps for green cards and skilled immigration, like through H-1B visas.
“Trump allies criticized Krishnan—with far-right activist Laura Loomer calling his appointment “deeply disturbing”—which led [Elon] Musk and other tech leaders to advocate for H-1B visas, with Musk claiming “there is a dire shortage of extremely talented and motivated engineers in America” that makes using foreign workers necessary.”
I believe that’s true. Many if not most of our schools are teaching CRT and DEI, and probably a lot of other junk rather than focussing on academics.
That needs to be changed.
