A mystery celebrity is suing the lawyer representing Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sexual assault accusers — claiming the high-powered Texas attorney tried to extort him with threats of outing him as a violent “freak off” accomplice, according to a new lawsuit.
The Los Angeles-based star, identified only as “John Doe,” alleges that Tony Buzbee — who represents 120 of Combs’ alleged victims — demanded big bucks in exchange for keeping the celebrity’s name out of damning court papers, according to the suit.
“[Buzbee] shamelessly attempted to extort exorbitant sums from him or else publicly file wildly false horrific allegations against him,” according to the lawsuit, filed in LA Superior Court.
The celebrity alleges Buzbee sent a demand letter in October that “threatened to unleash entirely fabricated and salacious allegations of sexual assault” if the star didn’t pay up, according to the lawsuit, obtained by Newsweek.
Those purported false allegations against the celebrity — a “friend” of the disgraced music mogul who has attended star-studded events with him — include “multiple instances of rape of a minor, both male and female,” according to the court papers.
“These baseless accusations are nothing more than a weapon in a calculated plot to destroy [the star’s] high-profile reputation for profit, despite the complete absence of any factual basis for such claims,” the lawsuit states.
Buzbee, of Houston, denied the extortion accusation — saying he “won’t allow the powerful and their high-dollar lawyers to intimidate or silence sexual assault survivors.”
“The case filed against my firm is not only without legal merit, it is laughable,” he wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday.
“We sent a standard demand letter to a New York lawyer that we know represents an alleged perpetrator and potential defendant. The letters were sent seeking a confidential mediation in lieu of filing a lawsuit,” he wrote.
“No amount of money was included in the demand letters. No threats were made.”
Combs was arrested in New York in September and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution at his notorious, allegedly drug-fueled “freak off” parties.
Combs’ alleged sexual abuse of women included forcing them to engage in frequent, days-long sexual activity with male prostitutes, some of whom were “transported over state lines,” according to Manhattan federal prosecutors.
He also stands accused of raping a 10-year-old and 17-year-old boy in a horrifying attack, according to a Manhattan lawsuit.
No other stars have been mentioned by name in the more than two dozen civil lawsuits filed by Buzbee on behalf of Combs’ alleged victims.
Combs has pleaded not guilty and repeatedly denied wrongdoing.
