Grand Theft Auto 6 finally has some competition in November 2026, but it comes from a pretty unlikely place — Barbie.
It’s no secret that GTA 6 will be a dominant force when it finally arrives later this year. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up to GTA 5 since 2013, and many analysts are expecting yet another record-breaking launch.
It’s set to be so big that video game publishers are deliberately steering clear of it, with most games either releasing in September or, in the case of Fable, 2027.
But one game is staring GTA 6 in the face and refusing to move.
Barbie Rewind goes vital for not being afraid of GTA 6
Announced during IGN Live on June 6, Barbie Rewind bundles 16 different Barbie games released between 1991 and 2007 into one package. This includes classics from the Super NES and Sega Genesis, as well as one unreleased title.
But the main thing that caught everyone’s eye is the release date, as the compilation is scheduled to release on November 12, just one week before GTA 6 on November 19.
Since the reveal, the game has quickly gone viral, with fans jokingly pitting Barbie Rewind and GTA 6 against one another — although the two are appealing to vastly different audiences,
“The only game that wasn’t afraid of GTA 6’s November release turned out to be Barbie. The battle for the biggest release of the month promises to be legendary,” said one X user, while another added: “Only Barbie is strong enough to stand against GTA 6.”
“The party is over for Rockstar Games. They thought they were the kings of the industry and that no one would dare release games in November to avoid clashing with GTA 6,” joked another. “Well, they’ve just had that backfire big time because Barbie Rewind hits the market exactly one week earlier. We’ll see how much this impacts the sales of the big R*.”
Many of these tweets came with videos that hilariously showed the two games battling it out, with their logos plastered over fight scenes from God of War and Dragon Ball.
Of course, this is all a bit of fun, as it’s hard to imagine either game affecting the other’s sales, but, just like Barbenheimer in 2023, the internet loves a clash of the titans.
