The Philippine government has vowed to take “immediate proper action” against Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio for threatening to assassinate President Ferdinand Marcos Jnr, his wife and the House speaker as a feud between two of the nation’s most powerful political clans escalates.
In an online press conference on Friday midnight, Duterte-Carpio said she has hired “someone” to eliminate the trio should she get killed and her warning was “no joke”.
It was a show of support for her chief of staff Zuleika Lopez, who had been detained at the House of Representatives building since Wednesday after a committee cited the official for contempt.
“Don’t worry about your security because I have already spoken to someone about it,” Duterte-Carpio said of her plan.
“I told [this person], if I am killed, kill BBM (President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jnr), Liza Araneta (his wife Marie Louise) and Martin Romualdez (the House Speaker).”
“No joke. No joke. I have already made a deal. When I die, I told [that person] do not stop until you kill them all. And then he said yes,” Duterte-Carpio said, without revealing the assassin’s identity.
