This is the terrifying moment a lion savagely attacks a man.

The horrific attack took place outside the beast's cage in Lahore, Pakistan, as the man attempted to pose for a picture with the wild animal.

In the footage, the man can be seen letting out blood curdling screams as the lion chomps down on the man's hip.

Two other men attempt to pry the lion's jaw off the man as it sinks its claws into his skin leaving the defenseless man flailing around on the floor in agony.

However the animal refuse to relent as the man can be heard pleading for his life, crying 'Spare me!' and 'Please stop Simba!'

The beast finally lets go of him after three men managed to wrestle the predator off him.

It then prowls around the room licking his lips as the wounded man jumps to his feet and flees the scene complaining that his clothes have been torn.

The Sun reported that the man was then rushed to hospital with an injury to his arm but the extent of his injuries remain unknown.

In October, a zoo worker in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014 but is internationally recognised as part of Ukraine, was killed by lions after she entered their enclosure.

The grisly incident occurred when the woman went into a cage at the Taigan park to clean it, according to the Russian Investigative Committee's office in the Russia-annexed peninsula.

Three lions were inside the cage she entered, but crucially the worker did not lock an internal door that would have separated her from the animals, the committee said in a statement.

According to the park's website, the facility holds about 60 lions in its more than 75 acres.

Visitors can observe the lions roaming freely from the park's 0.6 miles of elevated walkways.

Taigan park was the scene of a similar incident in 2018, when a woman was mauled by a lion after she got into its enclosure to pose for a photo.

Olga Solomina, 46, was enjoying a day out at the park when she got into the lion's enclosure.

She posed for a picture next to an apparently placid lion but, according to reports, got herself into trouble when she placed her hand on the ferocious feline's mane.

The enraged lion launched into a vicious attack, mauling Ms Solomina and trying to drag her her away by the arm.

Luckily, zoo director Oleg Zubkov was nearby and managed to save Ms Solomina by chasing the lion away.

He then got Ms Solomina into a nearby vehicle and drove her to safety.
