The next big Resident Evil remake isn’t Resident Evil 5. Nope! Today at Summer Game Fest, Capcom announced that it is remaking Resident Evil: Code Veronica. And it is out in 2027.

In the trailer released during the event, the game seems to be first-person. We see Claire Redfield entering a Paris hotel where her brother, Chris, is staying before being grabbed by someone. The game is simply called Resident Evil: Veronica.

For many Resident Evil fans, Code Veronica is the true Resident Evil 3. It’s set a few months after Resident Evil 2 and was released in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. It follows Claire and Chris Redfield as they deal with a virus spreading outside Raccoon City. It was the first Resident Evil game that debuted on a non-PlayStation console, and it also did a lot to expand the scope of the franchise. It’s a very important game, but one which has sometimes felt like a forgotten stepchild. That changes now that, following lots of rumors and fan pleading, Capcom has announced that it is remaking Resident Evil: Code Veronica from the ground up.

It’s the latest Resident Evil remake from Capcom, a publisher that has been on a roll recently. Will this be another big hit for the company? In any case, a lot of Resident Evil sickos are super happy to see Code Veronica finally getting the love it deserves.

Resident Evil: Veronica is launching on consoles and PC in 2027.
