A winner took home a $50 prize, a pack of Marlboro Red cigarettes, and a new claim to fame at a Jeremy Allen White look-alike contest in Chicago.
More than 50 Jeremy Allen White look-alikes took to the sledding hill at Humboldt Park this past Saturday - including a toddler - to show off their resemblance to the Brooklyn-born actor.
But 37-year-old Ben Shabad was officially crowned Chicago's Jeremy Allen White as video footage captured the massive crowd chanting the actor’s name and hoisting him up into the air.
‘I’m so happy,’ Shabad, a mental health therapist, told the outlet. ‘This is the coolest thing I’ve done all week.’
Video footage of the event showed hundreds of attendees filming and cheering as each contestant came forward to show their similarity to the two-time Emmy winner.
Most of the hopeful look-alikes were dressed in chef’s aprons over white T-shirts in the style of Carmen Berzatto, White’s iconic character on the hit Chicago-based TV show, The Bear.
Some were also dressed as Phillip, White’s notable character in Shameless, another Chicago-based TV series that ran for a decade.
But the intensity of applause from the crowd went wild once the 37-year-old Glenview resident stepped forward dressed as the family-run sandwich shop chef.
