Sixty-six Hermes handbags worth HK$10 million (US$1.3 million) have been stolen from a second-hand shop in a busy Hong Kong financial district, police have said.
The force said it received a report at 7.54am on Saturday that three robbers broke into Ginza Xiaoma at New World Tower on Queen’s Road in Central, smashed the glass display cabinets and stole the luxury items.
Carrying three white bags, the trio were seen fleeing the scene in a seven-seater car, a police spokesman said.
He added that the 66 Hermes handbags, valued at about HK$10 million, were stolen in the break-in.
Ginza Xiaoma, located on the tower’s 17th floor, is known as an “Hermes speciality store”.
“Our extensive experience dealing exclusively with Hermes handbags and accessories has established us as the top Hermes reseller in Asia,” the shop said on its website.
