Human history is shaped by epic rivalries, and Dr. Anthony Fauci’s adversarial relationship with the truth has proven one such antagonism.
Fauci’s pandemic-era fibs about the efficacy of masks and lockdowns, the National Institutes of Health’s funding of gain-of-function research, his role in shutting down schools and the origins of COVID-19 itself are well-documented.
But a liberal journalist may have just blown the top off yet another massive scandal.
Terry Moran is best known for getting canned by left-leaning ABC News over an unprofessional outburst directed at White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.
He’s the furthest thing from a right-wing bomb-thrower.
Yet during a recent appearance on The Fifth Column podcast, Moran revealed that Fauci was responsible for his only experience of “the heavy hand of censorship” coming down on him at ABC.
According to Moran, he and his team conducted a thorough investigation into the lab-leak theory in early 2021 before putting together a balanced segment analyzing the arguments for and against it.
But the final, edited product that came back to him after his version was reviewed by top brass at the network was “incomprehensible,” said Moran.
“I was told: ‘Fauci,'” he recalled.
“I’ve never watched that story [again] and I never want to. Because it wasn’t mine, and most importantly, because it was incomprehensible.”
Moran went on to allege that “an organized campaign” to paint the lab-leak theory as racist is what “really silenced” dissenters.
“ABC News’ standards people took that absolutely to heart and it was not going to be discussed.”
All due to the wishes of one man: “Fauci.”
Speak of the devil, the longtime NIAID director owes former President Joe Biden a very nice dinner — and maybe even some ice cream afterwards.
In one of his final acts as commander-in-chief, Biden pardoned Fauci for any federal offenses he may have committed between 2014 and early 2025.
Otherwise, Moran’s revelation might send the doctor to jail for perjury.
Fauci appeared before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic in June 2024 and addressed the supposedly “false accusation that I tried to cover up the possibility that the virus originated from a lab” in his opening statement.
“In fact, the truth is exactly the opposite,” he asserted.
The opposite, huh?
Then why did Fauci allegedly intervene to force a story merely contemplating the possibility that the virus originated in a lab to undergo a makeover so extreme as to render it unrecognizable?
And why did Fauci play such a key role in the publication of an article dismissing the lab-leak theory beginning in February 2020?
An article, by the way, that Fauci himself would later cite as an unbiased authority on the topic.
No wonder the ex-chief medical adviser to Biden spent hours pleading the Fifth Amendment in front of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee late last month.
After all, he’s not immunized from prosecution for any current lies.
Only the destructive ones he’s already told.
Legal consequences (or lack thereof) aside, Moran’s anecdote, if true, provides terrifying insight into the toxic relationship between Fauci and the media.
If Fauci was going to find out about the story pre-publication, the network ought to have asked him for an on-the-record comment so that the public could weigh the strength of his arguments.
Instead, ABC appears to have granted him veto power, essentially crowning him editor-in-chief for a day without any disclosure of his influence over its reporting.
What were they thinking?
The doctor was a high-ranking government official with motive aplenty to mislead at the time of the Moran rewrite.
Remember, Fauci is a believer in the so-called “noble lie” who suffered from reality-warping delusions of grandeur.
There was every reason to interrogate his perspective.
Instead, the press elevated it above all others — because he was a liberal cause célèbre whose views on this particular topic aligned with the media’s own inexplicable concern that investigating the connection between an epoch-changing pandemic and the genocidal Chinese government would fuel anti-Asian bigotry.
Unlike, say, blaming it on the Chinese people’s purported hankering for bat soup.
The media’s liberal bias not only yields slanted coverage, it makes it susceptible to manipulation by the powerful and self-serving.
Anthony Fauci wasn’t the first and won’t be the last to take advantage.
