A Surprising Overwatch Hero Wants Roadhog’s Whole Hog

Overwatch has 53 heroes now, and just about every one of them has been shipped with at a few others at this point. While the actual canonical coupling is rarer than you’d expect, plenty of pairings have at the very least flirted with each other in pre-match banter. Well, Season 4 didn’t just introduce a new hero in D.Mon. It also added some new flirty banter between two unlikely heroes: the chain-slinging tank Roadhog and the drill-digging archeologist Venture.

Roadhog is one of Overwatch’s OGs, having debuted way back in 2016 when the game launched. Venture is a relatively new addition with no apparent ties to the Australian junker hero. Now, a new pre-match interaction between the two makes it sound like the non-binary goofball has a thing for a tall man in a mask.

Venture starts off stumbling over their words, but manages to…not even compliment Roadhog’s height, but more just point it out in a way that seems very…impressed. When he responds with a short “uh huh,” Venture laughs like they just heard the funniest joke of their life and says that Roadhog is “funny, too.” Roadhog seems unmoved, but I’m guessing Venture likes that.

Though the banter is probably not going to result in anything in the story (Lifeweaver and Baptiste flirted when the former was added to the game but have never actually met in the lore), Venture’s voice actor, Valeria Rodriguez, said that they were made privy to Venture’s crush long before it was hinted at in the game.

Without revealing too much…some information of this sort may have been hinted to me a long, LONG time ago and I may have drawn a fan art of said thing- also a long time ago.

I cannot reveal it, however. For reasons…I cannot say.

Roadhog’s voice actor, Josh Petersdorf, also acknowledged the interaction on Twitter after fan reactions caused it to show up on the site’s “Today’s News” section, saying he’d be looking for shovels for Valentine’s Day.

Over the years, Roadhog has been a man of few words, though characters have inquired about his relationships in the past. Lifeweaver asks if he and Junkrat are a couple, to which Junkrat says “Yes! A couple of dashing rogues! Not sure what you’re missing here…” Well, if Roadhog ever decides he wants to get away from his partner in crime, it sounds like Venture could use some help on their next excavation.
