A Teacher’s Advice to an Inquiring Mind

“Mr. Bianco, is your dog your screen saver?” asked Maggie, one of my ninth graders.

“Yes, this is Emmet, my Asian child, a shitzu,” I joked, showing her my computer’s dog-picture wallpaper.

“Isn’t that racist?” another student asked half-heartedly. (In 2024, that’s a natural reflex for an entire generation, which has been trained always to throw the racist flag like rice at a wedding.)

“Define racist,” I replied.

He was surprised by this but did so. “Uh, hating a group of people because of what race they are.”

“I don’t hate anyone, so, no, I’m not a racist,” I said.

Maggie contorted her face in contemplation and said, “I’m not racist either, but everyone you see on TV now is either black or a black-white couple. And, I dunno, it just doesn’t seem right.”

I could tell she felt bad that these were her honest feelings, but she was uncomfortable to think she saw anything through a racial lens. Gen Z’ers have been taught from birth that that would be racist.

“Feels like white people are being minimized on TV, doesn’t it?” I asked. Now there were a few more arched eyes and alert ears monitoring the conversation. “Well, let’s take the word ‘hate’ out of that definition and be honest: everyone is probably a bit racist in their own ways, don’t you think?”

They agreed. Then the bell rang and we moved on.

As a teacher, you don’t ”go there” with students on some things, and that is as it should be. Because Maggie isn’t yet aware of American Renaissance, here’s what I really would have said to educate her on the matter:

“Maggie, of course you don’t think that’s right because it’s essentially minimizing white people. It diminishes our legacy, distorts the history of our people, and erases white people by replacing them with blacks. There’s actually a term for this. It’s called ‘blackwashing.’

Blackwashing is now common online and everywhere on television. It shoves in your face a disproportionate number of mixed-race couples in settings generally more reflective of actual white culture. To proponents, the stated goal of blackwashing is to diversify the on-screen cast. But there is a more insidious agenda at play here, and that’s what you feel uneasy about. You suspect that it’s more than helping the underserved. What they aren’t telling you is that this effort is, in part, payback. The hijacking of white accomplishment and the marginalizing of whiteness are at the core of their intentions. They intend to box whites out of the lane as much as possible, because to them whites are the epicenter of everything historically and currently evil (even though many of them are themselves white.) It’s like a sick religion.

“I’m not talking about placing blacks in common, interchangeable roles or about black-specific entertainment that is a product of the black experience. (I have many favorite black actors, athletes, and entertainers.) I’m talking about those works that have a distinct origin in white art, legend, or history. The media think artificial diversity will hide unpleasant race realities. They want you to believe that blacks are just like us, ignoring the fact that they are the segment of society responsible for the most crime, drug addiction, and violence.

“It’s gotten quite ridiculous, hasn’t it? Black Annie, black Fairy Godmother, black Johnny Storm, black Steel Magnolias cast, black Henry VI, black Little Mermaid, black Bridgerton cast, black Hamilton cast (Alexander Hamilton, by the way, owned slaves), black Eve Moneypenny, black Mary Jane Watson. Add to this the Wonder Years and Roadhouse remakes, each of which features non-whites in previously white roles.

“How far will they go with blackwashing? A black Snow White? Wait, they already tried that with a Latina Snow White and seven dwarves that included three blacks and one Asian. (The box office response to that was a bomb of Homeric proportions.)

“The reason you don’t like it on a gut level is because you see so much of our history, literature, legends, and traditions being ripped off and fraudulently assumed by people whose own heritage is radically different. It’s like a gardener planting and caring for tomato plants until they ripen, and then someone who put in no effort crashes the garden and claims them for himself.

“If it were a matter of imitation being the highest flattery, that would be one thing. This is not that. In 1984, George Orwell wrote that the most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history. This is what he was talking about.

“You see this in blackwashed portrayals of things created by white people, who have shared their contributions with people of all races yet receive scorn instead of gratitude. Of course it doesn’t feel good. We’re being fed off of and demonized at the same time. This is going on in many Western countries now. Whether called ‘political correctness’ or ‘Cultural Marxism,’ it is a soft strategy to encourage our destruction from within. Whites are the only ones being told we must diversify and dilute ourselves in the name of the supposed higher moral cause of cultural relativism — the ridiculous notion that all cultures are equal. You’ve been taught that by people — again, many of whom are white — who are imbued with a self-loathing that masquerades as tolerance. Let me give you a couple of examples of just how damaged these people are.

“The arson, vandalism, and looting that occurred for 14 days during the BLM riots of 2020 caused two billion dollars in insured damages nationally. That was the highest recorded damage from civil disorder in US history. Yet many white liberals are so pathological that they still refuse to condemn the rioters for fear of being accused of racism.

“In Ohio, an 11-year-old white boy was killed last year by an unlicensed Haitian illegal (who had been placed in their town by the federal government against the wishes of the residents) when the minivan he was driving struck the boy’s school bus. The father of the boy, offended by the “bigoted” protests of local citizens, said, ‘I wish that my son was killed by a 60-year-old white man.’

“Maggie, there is no cure for this, but you don’t have to find it acceptable. The systemic dispossession of white people is not okay. It pushes the lie that the achievements and contributions of our people are no better than those of any other culture. That is not only nonsense; it is the hateful and intentional sabotage of our people. Ultimately, Maggie, it is the black appropriation of white culture, one of the primary tactics in achieving power over the white race.

“I wish I could tell you it stops with TV shows, movies, and commercials. But this ideology is also embedded in what you’re being taught about history, civics, and even science. Racial preferences (as officially enforced by DEI programs) that run contrary to talent and merit are bringing down the quality of everything.

“But here’s what you can do: trust your gut and do your homework. You know instinctively that not all cultures are the same. Trust that knowledge. Then do your own research to find out how white culture differs. A mountain of data will reveal that the white race and Western civilization are amazing, unique, and worthy of pride.

“My hope for you is that you go against the misguided and destructive narrative that white is the color of exploitation, evil, and prejudice: it is not. There is a reason white seems always to be the color of the office idiot in rental car commercials or the clueless fat guy in the average sitcom. That is a message the media want you to absorb; reject that message.

“You will find that the overwhelming majority of great accomplishments in modern history have come from white people living in Europe and North America. That is not only because whites have an IQ advantage over many non-whites. It is also because there is a certain intrepidness and nonconformist quality inherent in our people. When you have Salk, Thatcher, Rembrandt, da Vinci, Shakespeare, and Edison, you don’t really need Wakanda.

“Finally, become an advocate for our race. As a white woman, you will represent only four percent of the total human population. Nevertheless, although the future is under attack, it is yours to win.“
