Ace Combat 8’s viral pink-haired ‘waifu’ pilot has proven so popular that the series’ Brand Director has now responded to the outpouring of love from fans.
One of the surprise announcements from the June 2 PlayStation State of Play was Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. While the photorealistic fighter jets, explosive aerial dogfights, and fluffy clouds certainly had us glued to our screens, there was something else that left viewers with their heads in the clouds.
Enter Tasha Seversky, the pink-haired pilot who stole the spotlight at PlayStation State of Play and has fans filling out their pilot licensing forms faster than the on-screen aircraft. The thirst for the so-called “pink waifu” has been so great that Ace Combat’s Brand Director Kazutoki Kono has now made a statement on the war-winning waifu.
Ace Combat 8’s Tasha continues to prove popular
“Since yesterday, my timeline has been full of Tasha. She’s really loved, huh? I’m glad to see it,” wrote Kono shortly after the PS State of Play announcement.
Following her June 2 debut, social media has been abuzz with fans vowing to purchase the game just so they can meet Tasha, while others have even said they’d take down any enemy, no matter how big, just so they can protect her.
Even Ace Combat 8’s main character designer, Yusuke Kozaki, has now released a special drawing of Tasha to celebrate the game’s announcement, giving Tasha fans even more eyecandy.

“It’s been about 25 years since I first played Ace Combat 3. This is another title that has continued to color my youth and stayed with me right up to the present day,” said Kozaki.
“With sincere gratitude and a desire to give something back, I’ve poured my heart into designing each and every character with great care. I’ll share more details as additional information is revealed over time,” he added.
Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time a character has sparked so much hype that fans have vowed to pick up a game. Back in 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds was famously labeled a dating sim as fans thirsted over Gemma, the game’s blonde-haired blacksmith.
