Fans of an action-packed Netflix series have not stopped binge-watching the show since the premiere of Season 2.

The Night Agent's second season is topping the streaming platform's top 10 TV series in the US currently following its January 23 release.

However, in a rare feat, millions of fans are also currently tuned into the show's first season, which too has become a top 10 watch in the US, according to Tudum.

The first season of The Night Agent is currently at number 6 after having spent nine weeks on the top 10 list between 2023 and 2025.

Fans on X revealed one of the main reasons they tuned into the show's first season right before the second was simply because they forgot the plot.

'Watching season 1 of Night Agent before I watch the new season I forgot what happened in season 1,' an X user joked online.

Meanwhile, another tweeter said they were re-watching the series from the beginning to 'remember what happened'.

Fans have been binge-watching the first season of The Night Agent on Netflix following the show's second season premiere on January 23

Season 1 of the show centers around FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), whose job is to monitor a phone line for undercover spies at the White House.

The phone finally rings, and Basso finds himself in a conspiracy involving the crime family of Viktor Bala (Dikran Tulaine).

Season 2 is set nine months after the show's first season finale, and Sutherland becomes entangled in even more obstacles.

After going AWOL following a compromised mission, Sutherland sets off to find those responsible for leaking American Intelligence and stealing enough experimental weapons to 'wipe out' Manhattan.

Other Season 2 stars include Luciane Buchanan, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Sarah Desjardins, and Louis Herthum.

Several Netflix users claimed they managed to watch all 10 episodes of The Night Agent's first season in 24 hours.

'The night agent so good I'm bout to finish season 1 in one day lol,' a fan wrote.

However, several viewers who praised the show believed there were some issues Season 2 but believed it was still worth the watch.

'Just finished season 2 of 'The Night Agent' on Netflix. Terrific, suspenseful thriller- as exciting as season 1,' an X user tweeted

'By episode 9 it gets too far fetched but kudos to the creative team for it being so exciting anyway.'

'The night agent season 1 was so much better. I'm literally forcing myself to push through season 2 that's how boring it is,' another wrote

'Just finished season 2 of the night agent really enjoyed it they have set season 3 up perfectly!,' a fan tweeted

The first season of The Night Agent is number 6 on a Netflix most-watched TV series list, according to Tudom

Social media users claimed they were binge-watching the first season in order to remember the previous events that took place

The Netflix show's first season debuted at number 7 on its most-watched TV series list and received a 74 percent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics gave its second season an 82 percent Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes to modest critical acclaim.

'Season 2 is a little messier, a little more self-serious and at times slower than the satisfying first go-round, but "Night Agent" still delivers,' critic Kelly Lawler wrote for USA Today.

'The Night Agent's second season isn't going to win any awards, but it's a genuinely fun ride from start to finish, and I'm already excited for Season 3,' wrote Erik Kain of Forbes

However, more than one unimpressed critic criticized the second season's plotline.

'To the show's credit, it doesn't shy away from portraying American hypocrisy, on both an individual and global-political level, and it understands human desperation,' critic Nina Metz wrote for the Chicago Tribune

'But its concept of what constitutes a threat to American democracy feels stuck in a previous era, as if the threats were all foreign.'

Netflix renewed The Night Angel for a third season back in October 2024, and filming began later that year.

It is still in production, and some plot lines of Season 3 were written before the second season debut, according to TV Guide.

Producers have stayed quiet on what the upcoming season will focus on, but producer Shawn Ryan hinted at what could happen based on the events of Season 2.

'Peter falls in the middle of an awkward and uncomfortable place - he's between two very powerful people that may be up to no good,' Ryan told Tudom in January 2025.

'That will be an interesting question in Season 3: Who's really in control of that relationship - President Hagan or Jacob Monroe?'

As of January 2025, Basso is the only cast member who confirmed he will star in the upcoming season, and producers have not announced its release date.
