Call of Duty shut down more cheating providers ahead of Verdansk’s return to Warzone in Season 3, leaving players theorizing what that means moving ahead.

In December 2024, Activision revealed a plan to combat cheating in Seasons 2 and 3. This plan included adding brand-new server-side protections and a kernel-level driver that detects the use of third-party applications. As Season 2 progressed, players complained that nothing changed.

Concerns escalated when Season 3 was delayed by two weeks, but players backed the devs claiming they would rather have the map released without too many issues on launch.

However, that doubt crept back in after players discovered a job listing for a senior director of game security to support Call of Duty’s anti-cheat team just weeks before the update goes live.

A new development has fans excited again about the plan.

Four Call of Duty cheat providers get shut down

Call of Duty content creator LunchTime revealed, “4 additional Call of Duty cheat providers “GCAIMX”, “Suave”, “ZZ’S”, & “MoneyMan” have been shut down. One step closer to hacker-free COD.”

Activision did not release an official statement confirming the shutdown of these cheat providers, but all four are offline and no longer active.

CODMunity responded, “Omg is it actually happening?”

This comes after cheat provider Phantom Overlay announced it had to shut down on March 2. Phantom Overlay was one of the most prominent services on the market, so CoD players predicted it would be a “major blow” to cheaters.

It’s not just cheating Activision has warned players about. On March 17, Call of Duty emphasized that account reselling violates the terms of use and any account caught will be permanently banned.

Fans expect more anti-cheat updates, but we won’t know for sure until closer to the season start date. For more on Season 3, check out everything we know about the new Zombies map.
