An adorable dog named Lavender, known for her somber face, was found wandering the streets after she was a victim of a 'heinous act of cruelty.'
An animal control officer in Upstate New York found the dog wandering around in Schenectady, a city 21 miles from Albany, suffering from severe wounds to her face and ears.
One of her ears looked to be intentionally cut off, and she had fractured teeth.
The poor pup was also severely underweight.
Officers rescued her from the street and brought her to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society to receive care.
Law enforcement suspected that Lavender was a victim of animal cruelty and put out a release begging the public for more information.
The Humane Society also shared the information on Lavender, branding her owner's acts as 'heinous' and 'cruel.'
The announcements went viral on social media, and the public shared their shock at the horrific images of the beaten dog.

'Abuse of animals = life in prison. Simple. Getting tired of seeing every platform of social media plastered with the saddest faces of these animals that go through this because people are not afraid due to lack of consequences,' another commenter wrote.
'Stories like this make me sick to my stomach. How could someone do this... And look at her sweet face,' a third user said.
'By the looks of that poor girl, she's probably been abused her whole life. She looks so sad, so scared. My heart breaks in pieces time after time seeing such cruelty. I can only hope this sweet girl has the best of everything,' a fourth added.
The Schenectady Police Animal Control Officers, Schenectady Police Detectives and Humane Law Officers from the MHHS are investigating the case.
In the meantime, Lavender is staying with the caretakers at the Humane Society, a nonprofit organization that helps stray, abused, and unwanted animals. The organization also fosters animals and helps place them in safe homes.
In New York, someone who is found guilty of animal cruelty can be jailed for up to a year or forced to pay a fine of up to $1,000
Animal cruelty activists have pushed for harsher sentences, as an estimated 10 million animals are abused to death every year, according to the World Animal Foundation.

The crimes are worldwide, as a puppy named Lil Redd in the UK was recently rescued from an abusive home.
Her original owners, Paige and Phil, said they sold the dog under false pretenses and even did a home visit before they heard about the heinous acts in the home.
The dog suffered serious injuries from the abuse and one of his legs was amputated. Lil Redd has been removed from the abusive home.
