As part of the new Alexa+ experience Amazon introduced on Wednesday, the smart assistant will gain the ability to navigate through movies on Prime Video on your behalf. Thanks to integrations between Alexa, Prime Video, and Fire TV, Alexa+, as the upgraded assistant is called, will be able to “jump to a scene” in a movie without you needing to fast-forward through the video.

The company demonstrated the new feature at a press event in New York, where Alexa+ was asked a question about a movie where Bradley Cooper sang a song. After Alexa+ responded that the movie was “A Star is Born,” the user could then ask Alexa+ to jump to the scene in the movie where he sings.

Amazon notes you can guide Alexa+ to the correct scene using details like the actor or character’s name or a quote, among other things.

In addition, Alexa+ device owners will be able to ask the assistant about the song they heard during the credits of a TV show, even if they don’t know the song’s title or the artist, the company says.

The feature joins a handful of other upgrades that allow Alexa+ to work with other devices in consumers’ smart homes, including tools to move music between rooms, those that offer summaries of events in the smart home (like if the trash was taken out), and other new features that help you create routines (multi-step automation) by voice.
