An elderly guy was driving his Corvette at a good clip when he spotted a trooper in his rear view mirror. So instead of slowing down he speeded up and to the trooper's chagrin a high speed pursuit followed. The man realized that he just was to old fooling around with a cop, decided to pull over after all and awaited the arrival of the trooper. When the trooper arrived he asked for the man's license and registration. Then he told the man "Look I'm about to go off duty and if you have an excuse that I never heard before and it has merit, I'll let you go." The elderly man was silent for a while and then responded with following excuse. " A few years ago my wife ran off with a state trooper and I thought he was trying to bring her back." The trooper let him go...

When the cop pulled me over, he said “Papers”. I said “Scissors”. I won so I left him there.

Years ago on a lonely W Texas highway, a DPS trooper pulled me over.
He fast walked to my truck and asked “You got any guns?”
I replied: Well yeah, I got pistols, rifles and shotgun. What do you need?
*True.

I was going 115 mph on a freeway in Maryland years ago.
A trooper pulled me over, got out, walked up to my car door and shook his head and laughed.
No ticket.

Back in college we took a trip to Cancun. At a military checkpoint near Tulum they were searching every vehicle. When they got to us my buddy pointed at the a soldier’s machine gun and said “quantos pesos?” We all had a good laugh.

Did you get a ticket for carrying a .45 in a .38 zone?

I know a guy who had an AMC Spirit that he gutted of everything and put a powerful engine into it. He used it for racing but it was JUST BARELY street-legal. He opened it up on a barren stretch of the expressway and sure enough, he passed a cop. Cop pulled out in pursuit. He pulled over.
The cop walked up and said, "I'm not giving you a ticket. I just want to see the guy who can drive this little shitbox 120 MPH!"

He was an older trooper in his sixties (?) and not with the new program of asking for “weapons”.
At that time of definition, the Texas Penal Code prohibited “weapons” and guns/firearms were legal to transport.
*Anything declared a weapon was prohibited.
