New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson hit out on Instagram at critics of his performance in his team's 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Wilson recorded six receptions for 54 yards as the Jets lost at MetLife Stadium to the playoff chasing Rams but was only targeted three times in the first 55 minutes. It comes days after reports ignited speculation that he is going to demand a trade during the offseason.
Speaking after the game, Wilson cut a frustrated character, telling reporters: 'I don't know, to be honest with you. I just got to go out and put my best foot forward and hope that things fall my way.
'I'd like to be involved, love to make an impact on the game, but people see it differently. That's out of my control.'
Taking to Instagram after speaking to media, Garrett posted on his story seemingly in reference to a five-yard pass he took where he ended up being forced backwards.
He wrote: 'You think I'm tryna be cool with that 5 yard catch???
It was a hard day for the Jets and wide receiver Garrett Wilson as they were beaten by LA Rams
Wilson took to Instagram after the game to hit out at criticism of his performance
Absolutely no, I'm tryna take that to the crib. Turn it into an explosive. Shake the whole squad/at least go our trying. You probably never understand.
'If you mad about 2 yards just know that's why we won't get along.'
Earlier this week, details about Wilson's long-term planning began to emerge.
ESPN reporter Rich Cimini has said on his podcast that he thinks the young wide receiver, 24, wants to leave New York in the offseason.
'I talk to people in Garrett Wilson's circle. They think - now I want to emphasize this is speculation on their part - they think he will ask for a trade after the season,' Cimini said.
'Again, speculative, by people who know him. We don't know that to be a fact.'
The Jets are 4-12 after Sunday's loss and face the Buffalo Bills next Sunday, before rounding out the regular season against Miami Dolphins.
