An annual night parade in Hong Kong to be held on the first day of the Lunar New Year will feature nine floats and performances by 28 local and international groups.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board on Monday offered a preview of what would be on show on Wednesday night, including floats that would feature the city’s six pandas and others by the Jockey Club, Disneyland and Cathay Pacific.

The event, with the theme of “Unfold a Year of Good Fortune”, had a preview and a rehearsal on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

The pre-parade street party on Wednesday night would feature 55 groups of performers, marking an increase from previous years.

Flight attendants Karen Lam Ching-man and Lenni Liu were among the crew members picked to walk with Cathay’s float, which would prominently feature the airline’s signature green colour.

“The main theme is about being together with your family,” Lam, who was taking part for the first time, said.
