Respawn Entertainment has announced the return of Wraith’s iconic “Naruto run” animation in the upcoming 24.1 mid-season update for Season 24 of Apex Legends.
The animation was removed way back in October 2020, when developers aimed to balance gameplay by adjusting Wraith’s sprinting posture.
Wraith, known for her unique forward-leaning sprint reminiscent of the “Naruto run,” had this animation altered to a more upright stance. Apex devs argued that her hunched posture reduced her visible hitbox, making her harder to target and giving players an unintended advantage.
The removal of the “Naruto run” was met with mixed reactions from the community. While some players understood the need for balance, others missed the distinctive animation that had become a hallmark of Wraith’s character.
Generally, it was a big disappointment, but one players accepted for sake of game balance. Still, it removed a unique element of Wraith’s character – one of the original eight legends at launch.
Respawn brings back the Naruto run for Wraith
Although in 2025, most people have forgotten all about it, Respawn has decided to reintroduce the original sprint animation.
The 24.1 mid-season update for Season 24, scheduled for release on March 25, 2025, will see the return of Wraith’s “Naruto run.” The patch notes simply state, “Original 3P run animation has returned.”
In the dev note, they added, “Also, the run is back. Enjoy.”
Players can look forward to experiencing Wraith’s classic sprinting style once again, bringing some welcome with it.
Of course, there are also much more impactful changes to all the Skirmisher legends, with new perks, and long list of weapon balancing changes. Check out the full patch notes here.
