Every so often, the Destiny 2 servers go down in order to perform scheduled maintenance or implement updates, leaving you unable to get into the action.
With the sheer number of players logging in during peak times, the looter shooter’s servers are constantly being strained, with some Guardians being stuck in queue for hours, just waiting to get a chance to play. In these frustrating moments, it can be tricky to figure out if the issue is on your end or Bungie’s.
Lucky for you, we’ve simplified the process of finding out the current server status as well as when, why, and for how long Destiny 2 will be offline.
Are the Destiny 2 servers down?
Destiny 2’s servers will be taken offline April 1 for scheduled maintenance to accommodate Update 8.2.5.3, which adds Episode Heresy Act 3. See Bungie’s X/Twitter post below for more information.

Scheduled maintenance is standard for Bungie’s looter shooter, with the servers going down every Tuesday for the weekly reset at 7:30 AM PST/10:30 AM EST/3:30 PM UTC and coming back online at 9:00 AM PST/12:00 PM EST/5:00 PM UTC.
However, the servers will sometimes go offline for other reasons, such as to resolve game-breaking bugs or because they were overloaded following a big update. In these instances, you’ll want to follow these instructions to stay informed.
