CV NEWS FEED // The organizers of Catholic Comedy’s 4th Annual St. Philip Neri Festival are inviting Catholics to an evening of celebration and laughter at Vertuccio Farms in Mesa, Arizona, next month.

“The St. Philip Neri was created to be a retreat for Catholics from all over to come and rest, laugh, and enjoy themselves and their families without the worry of politics, scandal, or societal issues,” Catholic Comedy explained on its event webpage

The festival commences at 1 p.m (MST) Feb. 15 and will include games, art exhibits, food trucks, vendors, and an entertainment lineup of comedians and performances. Performers include comedian Jeremy McLellan, voice actor Paul Rugg, and the comedy troupe Holy Smoke Comedy. The festival will conclude at 8 p.m.

St. Philip Neri, who lived from 1515 to 1595, is known for his reform of the Catholic Church and unconventional spiritual direction of young men through the virtue of humor. St. Philip is the patron saint of joy, humor, and laughter.

The annual comedy festival named after him gives families the opportunity to attend the only fully Catholic festival in the Diocese of Phoenix, according to Catholic Comedy, which noted that all of the performers, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and even small business contributors are Catholic.

“We want to ensure that we not only celebrate together as Catholics,” Catholic Comedy stated on its event webpage, “but support each other in business and charity as well!”
