Assassin’s Creed Shadows devs have thanked its community, praising them for their outpouring of positivity and teasing more content in the future.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ launch hasn’t been easy for Ubisoft. The game made headlines for its romance options, the inclusion of Yasuke, and depictions of shrine vandalism—the latter being addressed by the Japanese government

The criticism has been so strong that even a legendary Japanese dev has defended the title against those he deems “not normal.” Despite the online hate, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the biggest Steam release in franchise history, reaching an all-time player count peak of 64,825 players.

If that wasn’t enough, Shadows has over two million players across all platforms, surpassing the launch periods of both AC Origins and Odyssey. It’s because of this strong outpouring of support that Ubisoft has been “moved” by the AC community.

AC Shadows devs thank community

Posting on the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Reddit page, Ubisoft thanked the community for their kindness: “This weekend, many of us on the Dev Team spent time reading your reactions across the Assassin’s Creed subreddit — and we just want to say thank you. The sheer amount of love and positivity we’ve received has been incredibly heartwarming.”

The devs decided to reach out to the community after they discovered a thread where players praised the game’s setting, map, and the hard work that was put into making AC Shadows possible.

AC Shadows Claws of Awaji expansion will be released later this year.

“Seeing your excitement, your thoughtful reactions, and your joy has meant the world to us,” continued Ubisoft. “After years of hard work, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching the community connect with what we’ve created.”

The dev team also noted how they’re listening to the community and aim to use the feedback they receive to “keep improving.” Ubisoft also teased that “this is just the beginning for Shadows,” and that they’re “thrilled to see the game evolve.”

This is likely a tease to the Claws of Awaji DLC, an expansion that adds a new region, weapon type, faction, and weapons and skills. You can read all about the upcoming AC Shadows DLC via our roadmap
