Assassin’s Creed Shadows has received an outpouring of support after the official X account delivered a “legendary” ratio to Elon Musk.

From the backlash surrounding Shadow’s inclusion of Yasuke to Japanese government concerns over shrine vandalism, Ubisoft has been dealing with a lot of criticism. While the discourse surrounding the action RPG has done little to stop it from breaking sales records and achieving two million players, the devs have remained silent in their approach to the negative discourse.

Instead, Ubisoft has been keen to focus on the positives, and even thanked Shadows’ community for their “heartwarming” support. However, on March 25, that stance changed when X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk voiced his distaste for AC Shadows.

This led to a “legendary” ratio from Ubisoft, with the official Assassin’s Creed X account shutting down Musk, much to the delight of onlookers.

Gamers vow to buy AC Shadows after Musk ratio

Under a thread started by former game developer Grummz, Musk claimed that popular Twitch streamer Hasan is a “fraud” and that “he is promoting a terrible game just for the money.”

In a surprise move that no one saw coming, Ubisfot’s official X account clapped back with: “Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?” This tweet was instantly met with a massive 509k likes and 57k retweets, with commenters calling it a “legendary” ratio.

The response was so comical that commenters even vowed to purchase the game. “Gonna download AC Shadows in honor of this legendary ratio,” wrote one X user

“Can’t believe I’m gonna buy this game now because of this reply,” replied another. Other commenters joked that the ratio was a smart move from Ubisoft and a “new method of advertising” they can get behind.

Ubisoft isn’t the only one clapping back at its most vocal critics, as legendary Japanese developer Hideki Kamiya also defended Shadows, believing the game has received a lot of hate from a few “super-intense people”.

Whether the “legendary” Elon Musk ratio will move the needle on AC Shadows’ sales or player count record remains to be seen, but either way, it’s a moment that many will remember.
