Asus has officially opened preorders for the ROG Xbox Ally X20, giving players their first chance to secure the company’s new 20th anniversary handheld.
Revealed as part of Republic of Gamers’ anniversary celebrations back in June, the X20 puts a retro spin on the Xbox Ally design with a translucent chassis while introducing several hardware upgrades under the hood.
The limited-edition handheld is joined by a much larger collector-focused bundle, with both options now available to order ahead of their arrival later this year.
ROG Xbox Ally X20 preorders start at $1,299
The ROG Xbox Ally X20 is priced at $1,299 and will officially hit shelves on October 15 alongside a $2,499 option bundled with AR glasses.
Its design celebrates 20 years since Republic of Gamers was established in 2006, featuring a translucent black chassis that exposes parts of the handheld’s gold-accented internal structure.
Beyond the visual changes, Asus has equipped the X20 with its new ROG Nebula HDR Display. The handheld uses a 7.4-inch OLED panel and is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor.
Controls have also been upgraded with new TMR joysticks designed to resist stick drift and provide more precise tracking.
A new Transforming D-pad can switch between four-way and eight-way input by rotating it 90 degrees, while the face buttons have been redesigned to sit flush with the chassis when pressed. Asus has also added a rubberized coating to the rear grips and a redesigned cooling system to accommodate the OLED screen.

The bundle includes ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses, a custom dbrand Killswitch case, a 68W charger, and a Pelican Protector Case featuring red ROG latches and a 20th anniversary badge.
The Killswitch comes with a kickstand, ruggedized grips, joystick covers, and a custom skin featuring a circuit board pattern based directly on the X20’s internal hardware.
The included XREAL glasses connect to the Ally X20 through USB Type-C and feature audio by Bose. They use a micro-OLED display with refresh rates of up to 240Hz, a 57-degree field of view, and a claimed 0.01ms response time.
Asus says the glasses can produce the equivalent of a 171-inch virtual screen viewed from four meters away. Native 3DoF tracking allows the display to follow the user’s head movements, while Anchor Mode can keep the virtual screen fixed in place during gameplay.
