A Scottish court found a man guilty of making sexual comments to a group of young girls before grabbing and shoving one of them to the ground, BBC News reported Thursday.

Illia Belov, 22, asserted that he confronted the girls after they made derogatory comments directed at him, the BBC reported. He claimed he saw a knife in one of the girls’ waistbands, the outlet reported. Belov is reportedly a Bulgarian national. The girls were reportedly between the ages of 12 and 14.

Belov was accused of telling the girls, “hello sexy, I’ll show you a good time,” the outlet reported.

Nadjedzha Belova, his 20-year-old sister, previously admitted to assaulting a 13-year-old girl by yanking her hair, pulling her to the ground and hitting her on the head, BBC reported.

One of the girls had called Belov a creep after his remarks. He confronted them and called for Belova. When she arrived, she assaulted one of the girls, the BBC reported.

Belov claimed that upon seeing the alleged knife, he was concerned for his sister and pushed the young girl. He alleged the girls had called him a migrant and used explicit language.

Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith, however, pushed back on his self-defense claim, deeming the girl’s evidence as “eloquent.”

“I am entirely satisfied by proof beyond reasonable doubt that the trigger for all of this were the comments that you made,” he said, the BBC reported.

One of the girls previously admitted to pulling out a knife and axe from her waistband, but only after Belov initially attacked her, the outlet reported.

Belov and Belova will be sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court on Aug. 5, according to BBC News.
