The Baltimore Ravens have made a huge move as they gear up for another shot at the NFL postseason.
The Ravens are reportedly looking to bolster their wide receiver corps as they are trading for Carolina Panthers wide receiver Diontae Johnson, according to Ian Rapoport.
The Ravens are receiving Johnson and a sixth-round pick in exchange for a fifth-round pick that is headed to the Panthers.
Johnson had played for the Panthers for less than a season, as he was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to Carolina in March.
Johnson had been viewed as Carolina's No 1 receiver since arriving, ahead of Adam Thielen.
Lamar Jackson's wide-receiving options just got a lot better by acquiring Diontae Johnson
Diontae Johnson leaves the Panthers as their top wide receiver to join the Baltimore Ravens
Johnson played for his first five NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the Ravens AFC North rivals.
The Panthers are an NFL-worst 1-7 this season, with Johnson being held out of last week's game against the Broncos with a rib injury.
The Ravens are also trying to position themselves for another deep playoff run with Lamar Jackson running their offense.
One of the team's few weaknesses was a lack of weapons on the outside of the field. Johnson takes care of that issue.
Baltimore is 5-3, coming off being on the wrong side of one of the NFL's biggest upsets of the season, a loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Jackson's favorite target in the pass game was either tight end Mark Andrews or Zay Flowers, a second-year wideout.
Johnson seemingly usurps the rest of the Ravens' wide receivers to become the team's top target.
