A Battlefield 6 player has claimed they received a full refund from Steam despite playing the shooter for 470 hours since launch.
On August 3, a small update was released for Battlefield 6 that included a host of minor fixes. It also removed Rush, one of the series’ staple modes, from Quick Play, meaning that players could only access it through Portal.
This caused plenty of frustration among fans, but one player took it to the next level, as they claim that they managed to secure a full refund of nearly $110 for a game they’ve sunk hundreds of hours into.

“I was upset when King of the Hill and Squad Deathmatch was removed,” wrote ‘ExplorEverythingOnce’ on Reddit. “But removing Rush is something I refuse to put up with. It’s the mode I have the most time in by far.”
The OP also provided a picture as proof of the refund, showing that they received $109.24, as they had purchased the Phantom Edition at launch.
Many of the replies doubted whether this was true, since they had invested 470 hours into the shooter since it arrived in October 2025. As a rule, Steam only tends to grant refunds on games that have been purchased in the last two weeks and barely played, but they explained that all it took was a message to Steam support.
“I contacted Steam support and explained that multiple game modes were removed from the game without notice nearly a year after the game launched,” they added. “I linked them to the Battlefield website which shows all the modes that are supposed to be available through matchmaking and then to the Community Broadcast from today.”
“The support agent I spoke with agreed that wasn’t right so they gave me back the full amount I paid for the Phantom Edition on launch day.”
They signed off the post with a message directly to the devs: “Battlefield Studios, you don’t get to remove the game modes I play and still keep my money.”
This comes shortly after an indie dev claimed that thousands of players refunded their game because they beat it within two hours.
