The world now has 135,694 crypto millionaires, including more than 92,000 whose fortunes are tied to bitcoin, according to Henley & Partners’ Crypto Wealth Report 2026. The figures show how digital-asset wealth has broadened even as crypto remains well below its 2025 peak.
Key Takeaways
- Henley & Partners counts 135,694 crypto millionaires, including 92,272 tied to bitcoin.
- Crypto wealth is reshaping where investors live, bank, and structure assets as adoption spreads globally.
- 76 jurisdictions will tighten reporting as OECD data sharing begins in September 2027.
Henley Counts 23 Crypto Billionaires in 2026 Wealth Report
Crypto wealth has become large enough to reshape where affluent investors choose to live, bank, and structure their assets.
Henley & Partners estimates that 135,694 people worldwide hold at least $1 million in digital assets, with 92,272 qualifying as bitcoin millionaires. At the top of the pyramid, 290 investors hold more than $100 million in crypto, while 23 are crypto billionaires. Nine of those billionaires derive their wealth from bitcoin.
The broader market stood at about $2.6 trillion as of Aug. 31, with bitcoin accounting for roughly $1.6 trillion.
Crypto Wealth Expanded Beyond the Ultra-Rich
Ownership is far broader than the millionaire figures suggest.
An estimated 742 million people now hold some form of digital asset, including 371 million bitcoin holders. That expansion has continued despite bitcoin trading roughly 38% below its October 2025 peak.
Notably, the report characterizes the current bitcoin downturn as milder than previous major crypto winters. The declines that followed the 2011, 2013, 2017 and 2021 peaks each exceeded 75%.
However, the wealth numbers should not be compared directly with previous editions. Henley said the 2026 figures use a new methodology based on market prices as of Aug. 31, so the report provides no year-over-year change.
Crypto Is Changing Where Wealth Wants to Live
The rise of portable digital fortunes is increasingly turning jurisdiction into part of portfolio strategy.
“Crypto may be borderless, but the families who own it are not. Increasingly, countries are competing not just to host capital, but to attract the people who control it,” said Dominic Volek, Henley & Partners’ group head of private clients. He noted that investors still face national tax, legal and regulatory systems even when their assets can move globally.
Singapore ranked first in Henley’s 2026 Crypto Adoption Index, followed by the UAE, Hong Kong, the U.S. and Switzerland. The UAE scored highest for tax friendliness, while the U.S. received the index’s only perfect score for public adoption.
Regulation Is Becoming Part of the Wealth Trade
That competition is likely to intensify as reporting rules tighten.
76 jurisdictions have signed up to the OECD’s crypto-asset reporting framework, with the first exchanges of information among 46 jurisdictions due in September 2027.
For wealthy crypto investors, that raises the stakes around residence, taxation and regulatory predictability. The market may still be volatile, but the wealth built around it is becoming increasingly institutional, mobile and global.
