Black Flag Resynced devs cancel treasure hunt after player solves it “by pure chance”

Ubisoft have been running a Community Treasure Hunt in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, but they’ve had to cancel the next one after a player randomly found the chest at the bottom of the ocean.

Ubisoft announced the Community Treasure Hunt would tease the locations of three hidden Community Chests, with a new clue dropping each Friday. The idea was that the community would work together to solve the riddle and claim the rewards.

The first chest contained 4,000 Reales, a nice boost to your coffers, and Week 2 was meant to contain the rare Explorer Outfit — but a player found it first.

Reddit user ‘-Holliday’ said they found it “by pure chance.” After week 1’s chest was found at the bottom of the ocean, they’d randomly swim down to see if they could find another.

Upon finding the chest, they were “briefly shaken with excitement” to have found the Explorer Outfit, one of the most sought-after outfits from the original Black Flag, which many believed had been left out of Resynced.

You can find the Explorer Outfit at the coordinates 28,292. Simply swim down, and you’ll find an unmarked chest at the bottom of the ocean.

“You guys are too good,” said Ubisoft after finding out the chest had already been discovered. “We were going to reveal a clue for this community chest on Friday but your treasure hunting skills are too great. Hats off!”

Not only that, but it seems the community has also found the third community chest well ahead of schedule, as Reddit user ‘NinePathompuZ’ discovered another unmarked chest at the bottom of the sea.

This one contains the Uncrowned Prince Legendary Rapier and Guardian Beast Figurehead for the Jackdaw, and you can find it at the coordinates 500,168.

The developers haven’t responded to this third discovery yet, but there’s a good chance the whole Community Treasure Hunt will be called off, as in Ubisoft’s words, players are “too good.”
