The Issue: President-elect Donald Trump’s promise to oversee the largest wave of mass deportations in history.
So some Democrats are threatening to defy the deportation of illegal immigrants, including ones who have committed crimes (“Denver Dem vows to shield migrants,” Nov. 23).
Do they understand what a sanctuary city was supposed to be?
It’s supposed to be: If you have a crime committed against you, you would not be deported for reporting the crime.
They have morphed this into protecting the people actually committing the crimes.
So these mayors and governors who order their citizens and their police forces to not cooperate are actually obstructing the federal law.
Federal supremacy is the law of the land, and these people should be charged with obstruction of justice.
This is not a moral issue.
This is a legal issue.
Those who obstruct federal law enforcement should personally pay the consequences, just like any other citizen.
Supposedly, nobody is above the law — unless you came here illegally.

The United States of America belongs to its legal citizens.
Leftist politicians should not be “giving away” that which does not belong to them.
The damage caused to our country by President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas can never be fully repaired.
They’re the enemy within.
It’s unlikely that the millions of illegal immigrants will ever be fully assimilated.
Prompt and significant work needs to be done to stop the inflow of illegals.

Jennie Taer’s article “Joe’s last gift for illegals” (Nov. 21) sums up one of the many reasons why Trump won this election in a landslide.
To all Democrats: You have asked or wondered why the election was lost for your party, and this is one of the primary reasons why: Stupid stuff like this is a slap in the face to those who want change.
I am appalled by the decisions of this president over the last four years, and I am happy for a change.
On immigration, the Republican Party has presented its case for a way forward.

The plenary and unqualified power of the federal government to regulate immigration, naturalization and related foreign policy belongs to Congress.
Why then, does President Biden seemingly hate US citizens so much that he would place their heads on the chopping block over illegal immigrants?
Why would Congress place the safety of the nation and its citizens aside in favor of people who are here illegally?
And some people have the audacity to be upset that America went completely red.

There is a simple solution to deal with sanctuary city and state leaders vowing to defy federal law and the will of the people: federalism.
All of these states are massively dependent upon federal aide to keep their trains running on time, never mind to hand out EBT cards, cellphones and health care to illegal immigrants.
President-elect Trump should stop all aid to states and cities defying and impeding Customs and Border Protection officers on Day 1, as well as all grants to police departments doing the same.
When the taxpayers in these cities have to pay for the ruin out of their own pockets, maybe they will come around.

Recently, our governor announced that our state budget would include $2.4 billion for migrants.
We understand that billions of our tax dollars have been spent already by politicians to house, feed and otherwise care for the hundreds of thousands of migrants who have come through New York City.
In which ways are the migrants here constituents?
All of this begs the question: What motivates these politicians and public officials to fund those who have crossed our borders with little vetting?
It seems like these virtue-signaling politicians want the migrants to remain.
