A body has been found in the search for Marcus Rashford's "family friend" after he vanished in Colombia.

Anton Green, 43, had gone missing for weeks, making no contact with his family, which they said was entirely out of character.

Mr Green, who is from Manchester, had been residing in the South American nation for three years when he was reported missing in August.

Mr Rashford used social media to share an appeal seeking information about Mr Green's whereabouts.

The Manchester United forward wrote: "Anton is a family friend; if anybody has any information, please get in touch."

The 43-year-old had developed a deep affection for Colombian culture during extensive travels across Europe and South America, eventually settling close to the capital, Bogota.

His brother is Ro-shaun Williams, who came through Manchester United's youth academy, and posted an emotional message on social media paying tribute to Mr Green.

Mr Williams wrote: "I can't remember the last time I shed a tear, and today I did. I know you'll be happier up there bro. Rest in peace."

The last time Mr Green's family heard from him was on August 5, after which all communication abruptly stopped.

His sister, Sian Tuohey, 40, called Mr Green a "happy, decent guy" but revealed he had struggled with mental health issues around the same period the previous year.

His mother, Ms Nylva McKie-Williams, told the BBC his final message to her came in August.

She said he promised that they would speak at the weekend.

She added it was "so unlike him not to be in contact with us".

Before going missing, Mr Green was thought to have been staying in the Fontibon and Mesitas del Colegio areas near Bogota.

His sister had issued a public plea for help, saying: "My brother Anton has been missing in Colombia for the last 6 weeks.

"He has been living there since 2023, but he has made no contact with the family now since August 5.
