Police body camera footage depicting a disturbing encounter between a Florida college student and police officers has gone viral after a cop appeared to misgender the student.
Jarrett Vick, 27, was arrested and charged with battery on law enforcement, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct on February 5, 2025, according to the Orange County court docket.
However, the student pleaded not guilty, and the case appeared to be dismissed. A year and a half later, Inside the Blue TV, a YouTube account that shares police body camera footage, posted the shocking encounter between Vick and officers with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers were responding to the University of Central Florida in Orlando to reports of a stolen vehicle, but encountered Vick in an on-campus building.
Vick, who asked officers to use 'she' pronouns, asked officers, 'Why do you let those kids get away with this? They are not supposed to be here!'
An officer then warned Vick to lower her voice or threatened to call for backup. The cop then radioed another officer to come to the university to deal with a student having a 'breakdown.'
Vick then demanded that the officer refer to her using the correct pronoun, which prompted the cop to instruct the student to get down on the ground while deploying pepper spray.
The threat then spooked Vick, who screamed to be left alone and tried to flee the scene. The student could also be heard cursing at cops.

Vick was charged with battery on law enforcement, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, but pleaded not guilty. The case has since closed
Vick screamed for help and said she would calm down if the officer stopped pointing the pepper spray at her face.
Another individual who appeared to work for the university then intervened to try to calm the student down, but tensions continued to rise.
Vick then screamed at the officer to 'stop misgendering' her, adding that it was 'causing a lot of distress.'
The cop then asked Vick to put her stuff down and get on the ground. Officers told the university worker that it was too late to calm the student down.
After a few minutes of back-and-forth, officers then physically apprehended Vick as the student screamed for help and said she was hurt.
As the arrest escalated, cops instructed Vick to comply and then tased the student. Cops handcuffed Vick on the ground and escorted the student out of the university building.

'I hate you. You escalated this. You didn't have to pull out the pepper spray. You didn't have to misgender me,' Vick yelled as she was escorted into the back of the cop car, which was parked outside.
Vick could not be immediately reached for comment, but told the New York Post that she was being 'f***ing harassed by the cops' and was now 'being harassed by the media.'
It is unclear if Vick is still a student at the university. The Daily Mail has reached out to Central Florida for comment.
