Boomer Esiason Names The 'Biggest' Key To What Happened Tuesday

It may take a while for analysts to fully quantify the factors that led to Donald Trump being elected the 47th President of the United States on Tuesday. But former All-Pro quarterback Boomer Esiason believes that one person was the "biggest" factor to his win. An "X-factor" if you will.

On Wednesday's edition of Boomer & Gio, Esiason stated that the "biggest mover" that Trump had in the entire election was Elon Musk due to Musk's ownership of X and aggressive use of the platform to magnify Trump's messaging. While Esiason wouldn't make a judgment whether the information was accurate information or disinformation, Musk deserves credit for using the platform to get as much of what Trump had to say to as many people as possible.

"The biggest mover in this whole [election] is Elon Musk and what he did with X. And if it wasn't for that and although some would say it's disinformation, but a lot of it is accurate information. And Musk is a free speech advocate, and he wants people out there talking about uncomfortable things. And if it wasn't for him, there's no way Donald Trump is sitting here today [as the winner]," Esiason said, via Awful Announcing.

Esiason pointed out that the numbers show that Musk's platform is bigger and more important than ever, highlighting that there were six billion interactions across the platform on Tuesday.

"This Elon Musk impact is enormous," Esiason said. "He has to be the most famous in the world if Donald Trump isn't, just simply because the interactions on X last night exceeded 6 billion! 6 billion interactions on a company that he owns and bought..."

There's no denying that the election played out on social media far more impactfully than in the past. Musk did not yet own the platform when Joe Biden was elected in 2020, but promptly put the full might of his platform behind Trump once he took control of the company and decided that he was going to support him in the 2024 Presidential election.

We might look back on this election and point to Musk as the biggest singular power player in the history of presidential elections.

Esiason was let go by CBS earlier this year, so he is risking something.

Why did he do that? Besides the fact that there was already a lot of goodwill/history with the old name, X is a generic name.

Twitter was renamed X because Elon’s space program, which is outperforming NASA, is SpaceX.

… true, but I still hate the name X

Musk might be using “X” as a brand identifier as in Space-X.
