Boston Vows Rebellion Against Trump’s Mass Deportation. Border Czar Homan: The Mayor Better Read Federal Law.

The Boston City Council is backing far-left Mayor Michelle Wu’s vow to protect illegal aliens and Biden “migrants” from President-elect Donald Trump’s plans for mass deportation.

The Council voted 13-0 to reaffirm its commitment to unlawful sanctuary policies that violate the federal statute that forbids harboring illegals.

Wu has vowed to protect illegals and Biden “migrants” in “every possible way,” which sounds like a threat to use police to block agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement from mounting Trump’s deportation plan.

So Boston, apparently, has joined Denver, Colorado, in threatening rebellion and insurrection against the United States government.

Those threats have invited a warning from incoming border czar Tom Homan: Don’t try it.

The Resolution

The Council’s resolution is not a new law, but instead reaffirms the 2014 Boston Trust Act, the Boston Herald reported, which was amended in 2019.

It “delineates the distinct roles and responsibilities of the Boston Police Department from those of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), thereby promoting trust between local law enforcement and immigrant communities.”

Continued the Herald:

The law prohibits Boston Police and other city departments from cooperating with ICE when it comes to detaining immigrants on civil warrants, while still allowing for cooperation in criminal matters like human trafficking, child exploitation, drug and weapons trafficking, and cybercrimes, according to the resolution.

“It’s not just a policy, but it is a promise to our immigrant neighbors that they are welcome here, and this is a safe haven, and they don’t have to live in fear of being unjustly scrutinized or even ripped away from their families,” Councilor Gabriela Coletta Zapata said at the Wednesday City Council meeting. “As we brace for impact, we’ve got to make sure that we all work together.”

Not surprisingly, Council President Ruthzee Louijeune, the resolution’s sponsor, is the daughter of Haitian immigrants.

“This resolution is just enforcing what is already on the books and what is already enforced, but I think our immigrant communities need to hear that we, as a Boston City Council, unanimously support them via the Trust Act,” she said.

The text of the resolution is classic far-left eyewash.

“In the face of changing federal leadership, the City of Boston must reaffirm our support for the Boston Trust Act to protect our immigrant residents by creating a safe environment where all residents, regardless of immigration status, can report crimes, seek assistance, and live without fear of discrimination or undue scrutiny,” it says:

Boston shall continue to monitor and respond to federal immigration policies that may impact its residents, reaffirming its commitment to protect immigrant communities from unjust enforcement actions.

Wu Vows to Defy ICE

In mid-November, Wu promised that Boston would not cooperate with ICE.

“The idea that certain local law enforcement agencies will be required, or will be expected, to participate in mass deportations of residents who have not been part of serious criminal activity just to fulfill this campaign promise, this is not something that is possible under the laws in Boston,” she told far-left Boston Public Radio.

Wu thinks “the federal government could face staffing issues and other logistical problems when attempting to follow through on Trump’s promises,” Boston.com reported. “Some of those promises do rely on having the full cooperation of local agencies.”

“In places where that is not the case … we still have other mechanisms where we can identify spaces that might be most targeted and think about protections there,” Wu told the radio station.

Also vowing to defy Trump is the Bay State’s leftist Governor Maura Healey. She said Massachusetts State Police will “absolutely not” cooperate with ICE, said Boston.com. She will use “every tool in the toolbox … to protect our citizens, to protect our residents, and protect our states, and certainly to hold the line on democracy and the rule of law.”

In other words, the city vows to continue violating federal immigration law, and perhaps even going a step further by inciting a rebellion or insurrection.

Homan had a message for Wu: Read federal law.

Noting that Wu isn’t “very smart,” Homan told Newsmax that “Trump is going to prioritize public safety threats. What mayor or governor doesn’t want public safety threats out of their communities?”

Continued Homan:

So either she helps us or she gets the hell out of the way, because we’re going to do it. There’s a clear line here, and they can’t cross that clear line. I will suggest she read Title 8, United States Code 1324 III, that says you can’t harbor or conceal an illegal alien from federal law enforcement officers….

They can not cooperate, but there are certain laws in place that they can’t cross, and I hope she doesn’t cross it.

The federal statute Homan cited forbids harboring illegal aliens.

Denver, Too

Boston is vowing to violate not only that law, but also the law forbidding rebellion and insurrection, particularly if the city plans to stop Trump “in every possible way.” Ditto with Healey. She, after all, will use “every tool in the toolbox.”

The mayor of Denver, Mike Johnston, vowed to order police to stop ICE agents from entering the city, which could invite Trump to call in the National Guard to put down the rebellion.

As The New American reported last month, the National Guard website explains what powers the president has to deal with would-be insurrectionists such as Wu, Healey, and Johnston:

To enforce federal authority, whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, assemblages, or rebellion make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State or Territory, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State.

As well, state or local officials who interfere with the enforcement of federal law will invite any measure the president “considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy.”

Homan has warned those far-left elected officials more than once.

“They need to educate themselves,” he told Fox News:

They need to review this. Title 8, United States Code 1324 III. Read about that and don’t cross that line because it is a felony to harbor and conceal an illegal alien from ICE. Read the statute. Don’t cross that line.
