A nine-year-old Chinese boy waits for his older sister, who has a foot partially amputated, at the bus station every day after school to accompany her home, melts hearts of mainland internet users.
The sister, 13, nicknamed Jiajia, had a road accident in 2016, leaving both her feet seriously injured. Part of her left foot was amputated while the right one has so far undergone 12 surgeries, according to her mother, Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported.
Jiajia is a grade six student at a secondary school and her brother, whose name is not disclosed in the report, is a Primary Two student at another school. The two institutions are several kilometres apart.
Every day, after getting off school, the boy will call his sister, telling her that he will be at a bus station so that she can meet him there after taking a bus.
The duo will then walk a short distance to catch a connection bus home. The boy usually helps his sister carry her crutches while chatting happily, shown by viral videos taken by their mother.
It is the boy’s own proposal to wait for the sister and accompany her home, said their mother, identified with the surname Wu.
“In the past when my son was at the kindergarten, I often took him to pick up my daughter. He is a primary school pupil now and he said he’d like to be his sister’s companion on her way home,” Wu was quoted as saying.
