There are tons of Wordle-like games out there, covering all kinds of different categories, but Patchdle is one of the hardest yet — challenging you to guess the game just from the patch notes.
Designed by Full Stack Engineer Håkon Medhus Fornes, Patchdle will put your gaming knowledge to the ultimate test.
You’ll be given a change from a certain game’s patch notes, as well as the patch number and the type of change it is (e.g Fix or Balance), then have to try to guess the game. It requires very specific knowledge of lots of games’ systems.
For example, one of the clues in August 14’s game was “Fixed an issue where EMU Cuff panels could be used to skip a small segment of the level causing the rest of the level to load incorrectly.”
If you know which game EMU Cuff panels are from, you might get it straight away, but if not, you’ll have to keep guessing and use the context clues from the other patch notes to make your guess.
MedhusThe game launched on June 9, 2026, so there are over 60 games in the archive, with a new one dropping every day at 8 AM PT.
The developer has also created a similar game called Patentdle, where you have to guess the invention from the patent. You’ll be told the year it was granted, then see excerpts from the patent itself.
It gets more specific to the invention as it goes on, with the first few clues being extremely tricky. Don’t worry if you found it too difficult overall, as the dev said he’ll be “trying to balance the difficulty of puzzles as I get more feedback.”
