It’s a rough year to be a Giants fan.
After quarterback Daniel Jones, recently demoted to QB4, requested to be released, the New York Giants honored his ask and made the move. The post-Daniel Jones era thereby officially began Sunday and, well … things are still dreadful for the G-Men.
New York handed over the keys to Tommy DeVito, who got some excitement from fans when he came out, but it didn’t last long as they were thrashed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 30-7 beatdown. It was the Buccaneers from the get-go, scoring 30 straight points against the Giants before the latter got a single one. Running backs Sean Tucker and Bucky Irving and especially quarterback Baker Mayfield were all involved in the touchdown fun.
Following a tuddy from the QB, he issued the New York crowd a famous Italian-hand gesture. DeVito, of Italian descent himself, used the same move in the 2023 campaign which propelled him to become a fan-favorite with the Big Blue faithful.
TROLLED!
And to make it worse, Mayfield’s taunt came after Giants fans used the gesture to welcome DeVito on the field.

I can’t help but pump my fist a little bit whenever Florida flexes on New York; this was one of those moments.
