A stylish Caitlin Clark arrived for the Indiana Fever's make-or-break playoff game on Wednesday night wearing $1,700 worth of Prada items.

Clark and the Fever will be sent packing from this season's WNBA playoffs if they suffer a second straight defeat against the Connecticut Sun, who drew first blood in the opening game of the first-round series on Sunday.

And as she made her way into Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Arena, the 22-year-old boasted her new Prada purchases ahead of her most crucial night in professional basketball so far.

Clark, who was named WNBA Rookie of the Year at the weekend after her sensational debut campaign for the Fever, was seen boasting black sunglasses from the luxury Italian designer worth around $500.

With Indiana teammate Lexie Hull by her side, she walked into the arena wearing black leather slingback pumps valued at $1,200.

It is unclear where the rest of Clark's outfit came from, with the rookie superstar opting for a black jumpsuit and a matching bag while making her entrance.

The Fever will be eliminated from the playoffs if they come unstuck against the Sun, which would bring Clark's phenomenal rookie campaign to an end.

The former Iowa college sensation averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and led the league in assists with 8.4 per game during the regular season, which helped Indiana secure its first playoff berth since 2016.

Her scoring ability has translated well from college to the professional ranks. With a 35-point performance in a barnburner win over the Dallas Wings on September 15, Clark broke the WNBA's rookie scoring record.

She also broke the single-season assist record set by Alyssa Thomas last season, dishing out 337 dimes this season.

Clark has excelled so far up in the big leagues despite being subjected to some brutal treatment on the court over the course of her rookie year.

During the Fever's opening playoff loss to the Sun at the weekend, she was left with a black eye after being poked in the face by rival player DiJonai Carrington.

However, ahead of Game 2 on Wednesday night Carrington insisted that the poke was by no means intentional.

'I don't even know why I would intend to hit anybody in the eye,' Carrington told reporters Tuesday following the Sun's 93-69 win over the Fever in Game 1. 'That doesn't even make sense to me. But, no, I didn't. I didn't know I hit her, actually. I was trying to make a play on the ball, and I guess I followed through, and I hit her.

'So, obviously, it's never intentional. That's not even like the type of player that I am.'

Carrington was seen laughing later in the game, which many online critics perceived as a response to Clark's eye injury.

Again, Carrington denied that she was laughing about Clark's eye injury: I can't laugh about something I didn't know happened.'

The collision, which Clark admitted 'wasn't intentional by any means,' played out on ESPN as Connecticut took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three first-round series.
