California could offer state tax rebates for electric vehicle purchases if the incoming Trump administration eliminates the federal EV tax credit, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday.

Newsom will propose creating a new version of the state’s successful Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, which was phased out in 2023 after funding 594,000 cars and saving 456 million gallons of fuel, Newsom’s office said in a statement.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Money for the new rebate system "could come from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which is funded by polluters under the state’s cap-and-trade program," according to the statement.

We will take it from working folk trying to drive to their place of employment

“Newsom will propose creating a new version of the state’s successful Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, which was phased out in 2023 after funding 594,000 cars and saving 456 million gallons of fuel”

...and accelerating the inevitable blackouts.

A state that doesn’t have the resources to supply reliable electricity to is citizens is offering to pay people to overload the grid with electric vehicles.

I’m so glad I got out of California.

EV prices will go down further in the rest of the country when the EV mandate goes away.

But in California the EV prices will still be artificially inflated from state govt "help".

456 million gallons of fuel saved

About 1 1/2 days of fuel consumption. Perspective matters.

Guess I wasn’t aware there is a Federal EV gas credit...WHY is there one? Call me whatever - but EV’s don’t run on gas, right? Never did understand “cap and trade”..The older I get, the less I understand!!

The CA governor must have people who stay up all night dreaming up ideas for him to spring on the citizens of the state.

Nobody buys an electric vehicle as their primary vehicle... So tax breaks, and government funded EV’s are essentially gifts to the well to do and richer folks in society... Without those incentives, how many people would buy them and how many manufacture’s would build them?

And the California taxpayers are like that hooker in Steve Martin's "Man with Two Brains" saying, "I don't mind!" Just like the idiots are whining about Trump's tariffs on the Red Chinese, da "polluters" can pass on to their consumers the money they are forced to pay the Green House Gas Reduction Fund. They probably already do but they aren't talking and the RATS aren't going to say anything either.

What we need to do is find out where Newscum is hiding that 456 million gallons of gas they saved and take to somewhere where it will do some good.
